The Honda HR-V is back after a 10-year break, and it's arrived with a bang. The new HR-V, Honda's entry into the popular small SUV market, won the What Car Magazine Reader Award in a landslide with 25% of the total votes.
That makes the HR-V the most hotly anticipated car of the poll by a wide margin. It's not hard to see why: the previous HR-V was arguably the first modern crossover, and Honda's bestselling CR-V is the class leader in the SUV segment. The smaller HR-V will offer many of the same abilities and benefits in a smaller, more convenient package.
Philip Crossman, Managing Director of Honda UK, was understandably delighted.
"We have a pivotal 12 months ahead of us and kicking off the year with an award at the most prestigious automotive award ceremony is a fantastic achievement!
"Being voted for by readers has a deeper significance for the brand and demonstrates the connection, belief and trust we have with our customers. We'd like to thank all of the readers who voted for the HR-V and invite them to join us as we refresh the range and take the brand to even greater heights in the next 12 months!"
Jim Holder, What Car? Editor had this to say about the HR-V's win: "The coming year will be an important one for Honda - and the fact that What Car?'s readers have acknowledged it by naming the new HR-V as the most eagerly anticipated launch of the year is a huge boost to its chances of re-energising the brand."
The 2015 Honda HR-V arrives in our showroom later this year. We'll bring you more details when we hear them!
